Privacy
Policy
This policy explains what information Visage External collects, why, and the choices you have.
Last updated: 29 October 2026
1. Overview
Visage External ("Visage", "we", "us") is a free, independent software project. We have designed it to collect as little information as possible. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, no payments, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking cookies on this website.
The Software runs locally on your computer. It does not send your gameplay, screen contents, or game data to us.
2. Who We Are
Visage is maintained by an independent developer. For privacy questions, contact us on our Discord server at discord.gg/XWfXM5rvw5. For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as the data controller for any personal data described below.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide voluntarily
If you use the feedback or suggestion feature in the Software, we receive the message you choose to send. This may include any text you type and, depending on the version, basic diagnostic details included with the report. Do not include personal information in feedback messages unless you are comfortable with us receiving it.
3.2 Information collected automatically by our hosting
Like almost all websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs when you visit. These may include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you request, the date and time of your request, and the referring page. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the site online.
3.3 Cookies and analytics
This website does not set cookies for advertising or analytics, and we do not use third-party tracking scripts. The Software does not use cookies.
4. Third-Party Services
Some parts of this website load resources from third parties, which may receive technical information such as your IP address:
- Google Fonts — web fonts are loaded from Google's servers. Google's handling of this data is described in Google's own privacy policy.
- File hosting — downloads are served by a hosting provider, which may log IP addresses and request details.
- Community platforms — if you join our Discord or another community service, that service's privacy policy applies.
We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their practices.
5. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- operate, secure, and maintain the website and downloads;
- prevent abuse, fraud, and attacks;
- read and respond to feedback you send us;
- improve the Software and fix bugs;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
6. Legal Bases (EEA and UK)
Where GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — operating and securing the website and downloads, and improving the Software.
- Consent — where you voluntarily send us feedback. You may withdraw consent at any time by not submitting further feedback.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.
7. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your information. We may share it only:
- with service providers that help us host the website and serve downloads, under appropriate safeguards;
- if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process;
- to protect the rights, safety, or property of Visage, our users, or others;
- in connection with a reorganisation or transfer of the project, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
8. Data Retention
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted or rotated. Feedback messages are kept only as long as needed to review and act on them, after which they are deleted. We do not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
9. International Transfers
Our hosting and third-party providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your data;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California residents may also have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. To exercise any right, contact us on our Discord server at discord.gg/XWfXM5rvw5.
11. Children's Privacy
Visage is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website or the Software after a change means you accept the updated policy.
